Your Lunch, Today - Michelle Stidham

  1. A well-lit picture of a half-eaten egg, cheese and bacon sandwich lay on a Starbucks wrapper in the upper quadrant of a vertically shot picture. The picture is shot at a medium high angle and at a medium depth-of –field. The focus is sharp and the wrapper and the sandwich are both in sharp focus.

The composition is well situated with the green and white, Starbucks wrapper in the background, which adds a nice level of detail and information to the photograph. The pictures has nice texture with the crinkles in the paper and also, on the sandwich itself. Even though half eaten, the sandwich looks delicious. The background is perfect. It is not distracting and adds a great contrast to the light brown, yellow and red sandwich. The texture captured on the bread is great—you can actually see and almost feel the creases in the Ciabatta bread.

The rule of thirds is great in the photograph—in the upper quadrant of the picture, while the Starbucks logo sits at the bottom-right of the photograph. The picture is well exposed and offers adequate and perfect light to the subject. The subject, which is the sandwich, fills the frame, eliminating any distractions in the background or foreground.

The medium high angle of the picture is effective. It gives the viewer a great view of the sandwich in detail and the wrapper, posing as a backdrop for the sandwich.

Overall, a great picture! It really highlights the sandwich and Starbucks in one! So I would commend you on layering the picture through an artistic eye and advertising on in one.
