  2. I love your cat!

This image fits perfectly into the idea of something you can’t live without. Anyone who owns a pet or has ever owned a pet definitely understands that they are something you just can’t live without. Sarah’s kitten compliments Jess’s post of what I think is a close up shot of a dog’s tail. Both images capture that warm and fuzzy feeling that animals give us. I can relate to many of the images posted today – including music, fire and water – but this is the only image that makes me feel a certain way.

Sarah’s shot is working great because the focus is on the face and the eyes of the animal and this kitten definitely has the eyes that would make anyone say awww. While some of the class images demonstrate more of a concept – like headphones or an I pod to demonstrate music – this image shows exactly what Sarah cannot live without, the cat. While Sarah could be referring to animals in general – I think this image is specific to this amazingly adorable cat.

Compared to the work of the class as a whole I would say that this piece definitely falls more in the category of things we have emotional connections to and relationships with as opposed to something that we eat, like cookies, or something that is necessary to physically function like water. The emotional connection is shown through the eyes. I instantly gravitated to this image because I know how much I love my cat!
Great use of depth of field - love the eyes. Beautiful cat and work!
