Animal (Uniquely) – Mariama Gregory

  1. The photo fits the theme very well. It shows me the animal, but in an innovative way. Compare to the works of whole class, it distinguishes from others as the photo freshens up my eyes with a fresh perspective.

Looking at the photo at the first, I wonder what the image is. Is the swan or an ugly duck? Why the swan is standing over there that is near to the body of others? Finally, I figure out the puzzle—it is a photo rotated by photographer consciously. Indeed, the rotation creates a fascinating angle of view, in which involves the viewers to participate. A terrific image is showing in the picture.

The “ugly duck” is an illusion of misinterpretation. Instead, it is a white crane stands on the lakefront with its reflection. The lake water is so uncontaminated that I can see the natural clouds and blue sky there. A perfect habitat! Not only does the photographer show me the wonderful surroundings, it also creates the contrast visually.

The illusive impression, which is the image that my eyes notice the first, foreshadows the brilliance happened later. In fact, it’s dark color and incomplete body intrigues me to look at it. Once I found that it is not a faulty image; rather, it is a real reflection of a creature. My heart is in an enjoyment of unexpected discovering—it is a really amusing visual adventure.

The proper composition, which follows the rule of thirds, creates the distinctive focus in the picture. The spacious room is suitable for a lovely creature as well as creates the artistic sensation for the viewers.

    Unique photo! Nice job!
