I freaking adore this photo. Well, parts of it. This is a cup of coffee or a latte that has captured the shadow of a screen and the neighboring trees. While the window light makes a distracting band of white light. I think this could have used a filter on the lens to get that light toned down. I don’t know but I enjoy the image on the coffee’s surface as an homage to latte art. I really think this would have been set off better with the background being more defined like the ledge of the window and seeing where the image is coming from.
As to how this photo relates to this class, I love how close this is coming. I think we all can use some more expertise on how to accommodate for natural light as this is an ongoing struggle I have and one that is seen in this photo. I have commented on several photos by this photographer because I value her concepts and interpretations. I think with some refinement or a better camera (I think she is one of the ones with a point and shoot) this would be a better image. Maybe it is just me but I want there to be more background to make the single image become more awesome for being something that pops out to you. But I love clever ideas like this one. It is so cool and I would like this as a painting.
