This image fits in the whole as a great example of different textures and variation in colors. There are different shapes and textures that create a festive mood. I think the author of the image chose a great angle so that the background is the plain blue sky. This brings the eye's attention to the different mosaics. I think the background balances the busy artwork. If it was taken at a different angle and the background is outdoors, it would be quite distracting so I think the plain sky as a background was definitely a good choice.
The increased contrast also brings out the clay the mosaics were set in so there is one consistent color through the image. That color is broken up by the variety of mosaic pieces. I think this was a good subject to shoot to display the different artistic approaches discussed in class.
