  2. I sat outside for an hour trying to get a similar shot! Nice work. (I even put out fresh birdseed, they just weren't having any of it.)

  3. :-) This is the bluebirds' second nesting this year. She pokes her head out all the time - I think the heat... This was just after she saw me, she looks none too pleased.

  4. This photo couldn’t be more perfect! While many people (including myself) chose to take pictures of their pets – you have managed to photograph an animal in the wild. This image is so impressive because birds are so quick and usually only stay in one place for a few seconds. At least when photographing a domesticated animal you can pet or persuade them with treats but photographing a wild animal depends so much on patience and timing. The timing of this image is exactly on point – the bird isn’t looking left or right but directly at the camera. She does look a bit startled, and indicates that she has noticed you by tilting her head ever so slightly to the right. The head tilt adds expression and emotion to the image.

Many images from this assignment focus solely on the animal itself, or a single aspect of an animal (like a paw) but I like that this image shows the animals environment and the animal itself is actually the smallest thing in the frame which actually makes for a stronger focus.

The coloring of this image is really nice for many reasons. The blue on the side and top of the bird matches the blue on the roof of the birdhouse perfectly. The green leaves in the foreground of the image also create a nice compliment to the blue of the birdhouse as well as the natural wood.

The framing of this image is working very well to provide focus on the bird. I like how the lines of the roof lead the viewer directly to the bird hole.

    Beautiful and impressive work!

  5. The bird has such expression. Wonderful use of focus blurring the leaves and framing the bird. Everything element in the image points to the bird.
