Something I Made -- Alli Hedden

  1. The main focus of this image is an origami crane made with purple paper that has a grainy texture to it. This image was taken outside in bright daylight. The folds of the crane create a few dark shadows across the body of the object, giving the image a lot of shades of purple.

The crane is facing to the left and the picture is take almost in complete profile, your eye follows the head of the crane to the wing which points to the top right of the image.

The image has a shallow depth of field, and the focus is on the crane, which makes the texture of the paper and the folds of the crane stand out.

In the foreground of the image, you can see that the crane is sitting on a wooden table top. The edge of the table is out of focus, but is made up of tan and gold colors. The surface of the table comes in to focus the closer to the crane, and is not smooth, but weathered.

The background is also out of focus, and is made up of a blue-grey sky, green trees, and what looks like a building in the distance but appears as a green rectangular shape. The trees are on the left and right, while the building is in the center.

The body of the crane is mostly on the green trees and buildings, but the head of the crane sits mostly over a patch of the sky which helps lead your eye first to the head of the crane, then out to the wing.

  2. If you lost most of that wood, it would look the crane was flying. Nice job with the depth of field.
