Fruit - Imani Carter

  1. Nice photo!

I really like this image of cut lemons because it shows many different textures that can be found in a single fruit. You can see the texture of the outside yellow rind, the inside yellow rind, the interior white rind, and the inside texture of the juicy fruit cells.

There is a lot of noise in the image which means it was taken with a very high ISO setting. The graininess makes the image feel vintage or old although the grain may distract slightly from the textures of the fruit.

The photo is taken very close up with a short depth of field. You can see the sides of two lemon wedges that meet slightly off to the left center of the frame. The wedges are resting on their rinds, which are cropped off slightly at the bottom on the frame, providing a nice visual balance. The image is cropped in a long horizontal format. You can see a larger lemon wedge in the background that is out of focus. In the bottom center of the frame you can see a small portion of what the lemon is sitting on – a dark green placement that provides nice contrast against the yellow of the lemons.

The light is brightest in the background of the image although small specks of light reflect off of the tiny cells that make up the lemon insides. This image could potentially be improved if the light was more focused on the inside of the lemon so that you could see more detail of the juicy cells.

  2. There is nothing that I don't love about this image.
A tad less on the ISO would give you a more saturated look. Don't know if that's what you're going for… but that's how you get it.
