  2. Lost Without You

I chose to name this image Lost Without You because the dog looks like he/she is lost without his owner or playmate. The dog certainly appears to be bored. He/she is lying down with his/her nose to the rug and staring into the distance.

This image definitely tells the story of a lonely dog just waiting to play. I like that the photo is shot in black and white because it really brings out the emotion in the image. The dog is already black and sitting on a black and white rug so it was a really nice choice to move to black and white for this photo to eliminate any hints of color that may be distracting. While the dog may just be tired or sleepy – his droopy eye really helps to show that he/she is lonely and waiting for something. The geometric patterned rug the dog is lying on also really helps to create an interesting texture and contrast to the natural hair texture of the dog. The rug also helps to create nice leading lines that take the viewer right into the dogs face.

The close up on the dogs face works really well for this shot to put more emotion into the image. While the close up works really well, you may consider cropping slightly wider on the right side of the image so you leave more space for the dog to stare into. One other tiny area for improvement would be to move slightly to the left so that you don’t see the dogs other paw peaking out from the face.

Great work – love the emotion shown in this image - and how cute the dog is!
