Alright, I am not going to get called out again by claiming a spot while I censor my initial thoughts into something more photo worthy and lose my opportunity again, so here it goes.
Oh! A giraffe! I always liked giraffes. Wonder if I have actually seen one or have embellished some tv memory into my own. But, they are supposed to be yellow and brown. Why is this on orange? The fabric draped to make a African safari-like terrain is a nice touch. I enjoy how close the shot is to the fabric to pick out the weave of the cloth. Makes me think fondly of Sheldon in the Luminous Fish Effect episode (looked the title up). But I am distracted by this orange giraffe. I have in my mind another scene, from Honey and Clover this time, of a dazzling giraffe in honey and yellow diamond hues. So I am going to look up some photos of real giraffes.
In regards to the piece, the haziness of the path the giraffe is on brings up a third reference, Harold and the Purple Crayon. I think it is partly due to the giraffe's placement and the ambiguity (is that right?) of the future that the hazing of the background implicates to me. I now feel rather bitter sweet about this photo now because it brings up a more innocent time when the world was a place of wonder and conquerable. But that haze, it begins to take an impression of its own like a creeping fog or the hunting grounds of a lion pack. I fear for this giraffe and its next steps into this unclear world. Yet I hope he, why not a she I wonder, will take me along with him.
List!
