Nature -- Alli Hedden

  1. I’d like to name this picture: Naturalism as the picture reveals the true account of the universe. A girl is holding three pebbles while studying the stones inside her palms. Under the sunshine, the grit presents its rough surface naturally—a way that aclastic rocks show their crudity.

Due to the angle the photographer uses, I assume that the girl is lowing her head, looking at her gravels curiously. Her inquisitiveness causes me to think of my childhood, a blessed state that an Oriental girl has fascinated by the beauty of the rocks and initiates her journey exploring the world.

The photo attracts me as it catches the essence of nature both in primitiveness and humanity. The picture presents me the purity and authenticity. The proper eye level evokes my empathy with a lovely girl. I even felt an impulsion to share my pleasure with her. An appropriate composition, which flows the rule of thirds, contributes to the visual effect and elevates the significance of the photo.

If analyzing the photo finically, I may suggest giving more space to the top and crop the left edge a bit as the bright grassland is somewhat of obstructing the focus of the conformation. The girl with her rocky stone is enough to grab viewer’s attention immediately. Moreover, her colorful attire is an effective way to grasp attention. Even so, it is a minor thing you can ignore it. Overall, it is a very nice piece for the nature it presents and the aesthetics it shows.
