My immediate response is that looks really good, I want it lol. What stands out is that vanilla flavor looking ice cream with carmel colored syrup is melting. I think Maria captured the deliciousness of the ice cream. Since all of the ice cream is melting, it makes me feel like the temperature around her was hot. In terms of lines and shape, you can immediately see the curves of both, the ice cream and bowl. What I find really cool about the picture is due to the warm air around the cold surface of the bowl, it's causing small droplets of condensation, you can see the detail really well. The colors and texture of the photograph gives you that cool summer treat tone. In terms of focus, your eye immediately goes to the shiny delicious melting ice cream then to the blue bowl followed by the dark brown wooden table. I think the only thing that could be improved is make the ice cream surface look a bit less grainy/flat so you can create some realism that the ice cream looks like it's right in front of you. But other than that, it's a great picture :)

  2. Almost there. You're losing some of your highlights. Use curves in PS to bring those back in line. You're also not quite in focus.
Get a bit closer to the ice cream and lose some of the table, or use the table as a focal point. You're somewhere between the two. Get high and shoot down, or get lower and shoot across the scoop - either of those would help bring the table in line.
