  1. I'm not sure what the vertical line is? Use the true diagonal and go corner to corner with the composition.

  2. Vertical line is the chocolate pouring down, but I guess it gets a little lot.

I think this picture is a good representation of an image that can be seen in a dessert magazine. This is a picture of a glass of cookies and cream ice cream. On top of the ice cream is a Oreo cookie and a puddle of chocolate syrup that has formed from the thin line of chocolate syrup that pours down on the ice cream. On top of the glass is a stick that pierces through two strawberry slices and the five blackberries between them.

There is a wonderful contrast between the chocolate cookie, chocolate syrup, dark blackberries, red strawberries and white ice cream. There are many lines and divisions in this photo that makes it even more interesting. For example, the stick on top of the glass creates a horizontal division between two sides of the ice cream. The pouring line of chocolate syrup creates a vertical division starting from the top of the image to the middle of the ice cream glass. There is also a line in background. From the angle that picture was taken, the red table which the glass of ice cream sits on, looks as if it’s connected to the granite (?) floor. The line from the edge of the table creates the separation and also helps reveal that the table actually is higher than the floor.

There is an awesome use of depth of field where the ice cream is the main focus in the foreground and the background, which is the table and floor, is out of focus. It also interesting that the colors of the floor reflect the colors of the cookies and cream ice cream.
