Fruit - Michelle Stidham

  1. The image is flat. It would benefit greatly from levels/curves/color balance in PS.
This is an occasion if you got about a foot lower you'd have a completely different image. This isn't wrong, but it's been done. Get eye level, it will change everything. You'd also lose the placemat, which distracts our eye from the fruit.

  2. The image is of two nectarines on the potter like dish fill most of the frame of the image. The bottom third of the foreground nectarine is cut off by the framing of the photo. The nectarine on the bottom right corner on the right side leads your eye back to the middle of the photo. The bottom third of the foreground nectarine is cut off by the framing of the photo. The way that the nectarine is placed it leads your eye back to the nectarine second nectarine that fills the back left corner of the photo. This seems to be sitting cockeyed with the stem portion down on the plate. It has a crease in the fruit that assists in leading the eye back.
The picture is shot with a shorter depth of field. It seems as though the photo focus is the center. The picture is rich in reddish pinkish color with yellow interspersed on the nectarine in the foreground. With the short depth in combination with the mixing of the red and yellow makes it appear as though as it is pixilated until it becomes in focus. The textured ridged plate in the background with the neutral blue slate color allows the nectarines to be bold and stand out.
Overall I like how closely the photo is taken but may be interesting if it was taken from a lower in angle. Right now it feels as though you are caught between birds eye and eye level.
