Your lighting is really dark. You can help it a bit by using levels/curves in PS. This falls more into the snapshot category. How can you compose the needlework so it's more interesting?
It is very dark, I'll go back in and try to alter it a bit. Next time I think I'll try to get a closer shot so you can see the individual stitches better.
